Where has all the free time gone?
Seems like August just started. And I found out I was teaching Calculus BC AP. A mad rush to get the paperwork in by deadlines, uncooperative universities for transcripts, mad running around to get birth certificates, and a dizzying start to the school year.

Add to that arm wrestling with my home owners assocation, which claims I haven't tried to pay them and yet I have cancelled bank transactions -- cancelled by them due to their negligence. BBB is involved due to their harrassment. They pile on the charges (registered letters they can't find, phone calls they can't prove they made, etc.)

Hell hell hell.

My birthday came and past. Anniversary too.

Then the start of the school year. Boring tedious meetings, rooms being taken over, a mad mad rush to get everything ready for the kids

Then...classes begin

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!

(anyone else not like the new bell?)

Classes are going allright. I'm getting in the swing of things. My knees still hurt - not used to standing around as much, and my throat is killing me due to a combination of allergies (when do I get allergies?) and talking for hours on end.

I don't think students understand the kind of projection that has to go on when you teach. It's like you're (not yelling, but) projecting for six hours a day. And it takes a toll on you.

But, the schedule isn't bad. Some classes are dead, some too lively, but that goes to stand for any school year.

We had our first math team meeting this morning. About thirty people showed up. Congrats to Susan and Amy for their captaincy (captainship? captianisms?) and to Ruoheng and Yuanteng for their lieutenantcies. A special congrats to YT for being an officer not named Zhang. :)

Tomorrow is Friday, my wife's birthday. I got her something she asked for, something I'm pretty sure she'd like (and no, I'm not gonna spoil it for anyone here.) I'll probably bolt early tomorrow afternoon for a good meal with the wife and boy.

Speaking of the boy, Miguel's really starting to grow up. He's building a vocabulary now, and is really putting together sentences. I probably should get another youtube video up of him -- it's been about two months since the last one.

He's really into coloring right now. He's learning he can write on other things than paper (like the kitchen floor, walls in his bedroom, or other hard furniture) and he gets his "pow pow" occasionally, but he's still a good kid at heart. I think he's starting his terrible twos soon, so we'll see.

Other than that, not much is up. Life goes on. And so do I.
