First weekend without kids...
On Thursday, I finished cleaning up my lab and office, so it's rather neat and trim. Pity I can't keep it clean.

It's a personal thing. My wife always asks why I can't keep it that way. It's just easier for me to pile rather than to clean as I go. I also do cleaning better in bursts, and minor messes don't really bother me. I ended up getting rid of seven boxes of old stuff I don't need anymore. A lot of it was books Mr. Jennings had had in the lab, many were the old Towers of Hanoi projects students gave me three (!) years ago. I've kept a few.

Friday we had an inspirational speaker. After we'd finished the school year. It was essentially a sermon-type from this ex-teacher, ex-coach, ex-principal from Mississippi. He was a good speaker, but this really was something we should have gotten some time in August, not the first day in June.

He also happens to look like a shorter version of my brother.

Yesterday I made the rounds to a couple of graduation parties. I couldn't actually attend graduation due to a failure in the water heater system.

So I went to Aubrey's, only to find out I was a day early. Her parents humored me, and we talked for a while. I think they were happy to see I was a down-to-earth teacher.

Afterwards, I went to Nathan's party. His parents, and quite a few relatives were there, and were very thankful for what I did. Of course, I just mold kids to use their natural ability. Nick, Adrian, Susan, Jessica, and Ruoheng were there as well, and gave me a very touching card.

Of course, I cried. It's a very emotional time for me. And it's nice to know I can rech people.
