: A lost day
So, last night I checked the mail. Apparently, where I live houses are so crammed together, that the mailman doesn't have time to go door-to-door to deliver the mail. He only has time to go to a centralized mailbox box that has about 90 post drops for the people on my and several other's street. Due to being so far from home, each mailbox is locked, and you need a key ($10 at the P.O., thankyew) to check it. Next to that is a large parcel box, which has it's own key system. If you get a parcel, you get the key put in your mail box, so you can get your mail
Last night I checked it. And left my keys there. I had several packages in the parcel box, and didn't check to make sure I had my keys.
On the key ring was not only my mailbox key, but the keys to my house and the keyless remote to the truck.
Later last night, I heard the truck alarm go off, but didn't much of it.
This morning, my keys aren't in the usual spot. Lightbulb goes off. The possessor of my keys triggered the alarm on the truck (and, seriously, who pays attention to when your car alarm goes off) to find out where I live. So whilst I'm at work, my house will be emptied.
Thus, the rushed off day. I drove like a maniac to school to get ready for my sub, then off to Lowe's to get a new lock set for the front door, then I returned home.
Luckily, the door was still locked, and nothing had been taken yet.
Later, a trip to the dealership (my brother-in-law is a car dealer) to get the alarm redone on the truck. Not a cheap thing.
So, if I was terse or abrupt with you today, I'm sorry. I'm out a bit of cash right before Christmas due to my ineptness. Not to mention my wife not being in such a great mood due to my actions.
Sucks.
